The Basil H. Alkazzi Foundation was established in 1986 at the
eminent Royal Collage of Art, London, with an endowment set in
Trust and Perpetuity. The Foundation gives an annual full
Scholarship Study Award including maintenance, for a two year
Master's Degree Course in the Department of Painting. The
Foundation also gives and annual travel award, a studio award,
and a self perpetuating award to students in the Department of
Painting, and the department of Printmaking on alternate years.

|
The Foundation awards are granted to students from any part of
the world, but ONLY AFTER the student has been accepted at
the collage.

The Basil H. Alkazzi Award [USA] was established in 1987 and
two years later in commemoration The Sheldon Bergh Award [USA]
was added as the best runner up to the Basil H. Alkazzi Award
[USA]. These awards were given to support young painters from
beginner to emerging. The monetary award was in essence to
give the recipients time to withdraw and produce a new body of
work without the constraints of outside pressure. The last and
final awards were given in 2000.
